Our monthly meetups

Come together to worship and learn about God.

What's Involved

Teach

We want to strengthen your commitment to learning and we see this as more than acquiring knowledge. We see it as an ongoing process that begins with understanding how to walk in the light of God’s word daily.

Teaching and learning have always been an essential part of Jewish tradition as reflected in Deuteronomy 6:6-8 and we want to walk in this.

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up."

As we can see, the process begins in our homes. The place where there is a daily requirement to teach

” …when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”

Of course, we are also to use every opportunity outside of the home to educate as well. So, join us in this journey of discovery and let’s learn together about a lifestyle that is in line with God's teaching.

Worship

Worship is the work of the people, Jews, and Gentiles, not a ministry team. In other words, the action of corporate prayer, singing and sharing scriptures is a response to the presence of a living Messiah. For the early congregants, the experience of corporate worship was very different to ours.

It was customary for 1st century Jewish converts to attend synagogues on the Shabbat, but when they began to follow the Messiah, they knew they would not be allowed to express their faith publicly. So, what did they do?

So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:46-47 NKJV)

However, the answer did not result in a trade-off of Jewish traditions for replacement with a newfound faith in the Messiah, to the contrary. This problem became an opportunity for new believers to keep their traditions on the Shabbat but also to gather, often in homes, to pray sing and encourage each other in the Hebrew Scriptures.

Pray

“Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices Will be accepted on My altar;

For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” (Isaiah 56:7 NKJV)

Prayer should be central to modern living as it was central to the families and nation of Israel in ancient times. The tabernacle and the temple, which were designed by God, were at the heart of the community of Israel. God's presence was in the midst of them.

This picture of God with us is reinforced repeatedly when reviewing the place of prayer in scriptures and it doesn’t lose its significance amongst followers of The Messiah after the destruction of the temple.

In His mysterious way, God is still building a ‘House of Prayer’, a habitation that is made of living stones (people).
